Adopt a Pet from the RSPCA PNG

The RSPCA PNG shelters and adoption centres provide compassionate care and housing for thousands of animals every year, from those taken in by our Dog Collectors to pets surrendered by their owners. The RSPCA PNG shelter is more than just places of refuge for animals; its a safe haven where vulnerable animals can find solace, healing, and care. The RSPCA PNG shelter is more than just temporary homes for animals in need. Indeed, our shelter and adoption centre serve as animal welfare hubs, supporting pet owners, volunteers, and our amazing foster carers. Our teams also provide guidance and mentorship for individuals interested in welfare education, nurturing compassionate animal lovers with every program and training course. Whether you’re looking to adopt or seeking guidance for your pet, our shelters are here to provide support for humans and animals alike. Whether you choose to adopt or foster, volunteer, or donate today, your support can help ensure a brighter future for our animals.

Meet some of our pets

Hazel

Meet Hazel!

Hazel is one of many cats surrendered to us. She was brought to our shelter towards the end of last year as a kitten. Hazel is a very clingy girl! She loves to sit on people’s laps and pay with their fingers. She is used to being around other cats and is not afraid of living amongst other animals too.  She enjoys playing with other cats and likes to play with fluffy toys. Hazel is up to date with her medications & is healthy & purr-fect companion for a new home.

Yoda / Boss

Meet Yoda!

Yoda is a tough little fella. He was brought to our Clinic by two young lads who noticed he was roaming the street. According to the boys, he did not look lost but was wondering around the sidewalks and had been slightly limping. In fear of his safety and due to his condition, the boys brought him to us.

Although shy during his first few days, Yoda has now found his strength and has settled in well in our shelter. He has received treatment and much needed care from our clinical staff and is ready for a family to take him on board. Yoda can be shy when approached from a distant but is a happy little chap when you win his trust. He enjoys playing with his rope toy and loves to run around the yard.

Naruto

Meet Naruto!

Naruto is in his late teenage stage (in cat years) and loves to play. Naruto spends time with other cats and kittens in our shelter by playing with his toys and jumping from one cat tree to another. For a surrender pet, he is confidant and loves to explore and wonder off on his own when he is bored.

Naruto is one of 20 pets in our shelter that is currently fully vaccinated and ready to find a forever home.

Meet Whitefoot!

Coffee or White foot as she is affectionately known, because of her white paws,  is a very energetic gal who is very play full and loves to do high jumps when she is excited. She was surrendered as a pup earlier this year as she could not be kept by her owner.  She enjoys play time at the shelter when she is allowed outside to roam freely. She is very obedient and loves to give hugs. She can do high jumps and high flips when she is very happy. She is super friendly and loves playing with other dogs as well.

Melo

Meet Melo!

Melo, our handsome senior statesman! As the longest-term resident at the shelter, this sweet boy is more than ready to swap his kennel for a cozy couch.

Thanks to a generous “Fur Friend,” Melo’s adoption fee is fully sponsored. You won’t have to pay a cent to bring him home—just complete the standard adoption application and prepare for a lifetime of loyalty. Melo has waited a long time to be part of a pack; could yours be the one?

Adoption Process

Why Adopt?

Every year, the RSPCA provides shelter to thousands of animals in need of a good home. By choosing adoption, you’ll not only have the chance to make a friend for life, but you’ll be giving an animal a second chance and helping support the RSPCA.

  • A second chance: wonderful pets come through our doors every day for a wide range of different reasons, through no fault of their own. These include animals surrendered by their previous owners, and sadly some who have suffered neglect or cruelty. By adopting an animal in need, you’ll truly be giving a second chance to someone who needs it.
  • Find your perfect match: our RSPCA staff really get to know the animals in adoption centres and Petbarn stores, so we can help you meet and fall in love with the pet who’s right for you!
  • Pets are well looked after: all RSPCA animals undergo health and behaviour assessments, are fed a nutritious and healthy diet, and all dogs and cats are desexed, microchipped, and vaccinated.
  • Supporting the RSPCA: every dollar of your adoption fee helps us care for other animals, as well as investigating and prosecuting animal cruelty and educating the community about responsible pet ownership.
